 1. What is your screenplay about?

A restless 911 operator, burned out, takes refuge in the forest of Pacific Northwest. A youth spent there, he remembers how peaceful and serene the forest was.

But much has changed since then, including ‘old growth’ timber poaching, and growing right wing militia members. When GAVIN arrives from Omaha, he’s forced to choose between the Indian renewal interests, or exploiting the vital forests of his childhood.

The theme of the May 2018 Action/Crime/Thriller FEEDBACK Film Festival was “Hidden Truths”. Every single film was about a world or characters dealing with underlying truths that are always playing conflict to the surface of the story.

I love when we showcase these genres at the festival. What filmmakers are coming up these days with when using these genres are their template tone is truly remarkable. Our audiences in Los Angeles and Toronto love when we show them too as you can see in the FEEDBACK Videos that there isn’t an empty seat inside the cinema.

Twofold. A film fan, I think the idea of the audience being able to participate is great. In fact, debating films is one of the joys of movie-going. On the other hand, as a filmmaker, you learn to consider the source and be very selective on what criticisms to listen to. Otherwise, you’d never put anything out there ☺. All in all, I thought the curator very intelligent and understood the film well.

I did not know what to expect, this has been an absolute wonderful experience , the team offered me wonderful insight into my story that I feel has helped Maire tell her story .

The journey follows Maire, a 23-year-old cancer patient, as she battles a rare heart cancer. Maire faces end of life issues and questions about where we go when we die. She befriends a blind carpenter who crafts her a small 3 ft wooden sail boat for her remains to go on a extraordinary journey in hope she will reach the ocean.
