While filming the movie Dazed and Confused (1993), she eloped with actor Shawn Andrews to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was 1992 and several months before she turned 17. Since she was only 16 at the time, her mother had the marriage annulled.

Despite being on the posters, most of her scenes from Dazed and Confused were cut from the finished product. Upset at this, Milla decided to take a break from acting for the next 3 years to focus on her music career. She didn’t act again until she was cast in the title role for The Fifth Element.
