NOVA, 7min., USA

Directed by Noah Guardado

In the year 2468, Jackson, a seasoned bounty hunter, finds himself in dire straits when his partner mysteriously vanishes. Struggling with financial difficulties, Jackson reluctantly accepts a risky job offer to track down an elusive criminal. Set in a futuristic world with elements of sci-fi and cyberpunk, NOVA explores themes of identity and betrayal amidst a backdrop of advanced technology and quirky characters.https://www.instagram.com/nova_themovie/ Get to know the filmmaker: What motivated you to make this film? I would say my love for the 90’s Anime “Cowboy Bebop”. I knew I wanted to make something that resonated with people who also appreciate that sort of Jazzy Sci Fi noir style of storytelling. Making films that I love with the people I love is always the goal! What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video? Oh geez, at first extremely nervous, but after hearing what everyone had to say, I was pleasantly surprised! It is a surreal feeling to hear people talk about how they experienced something you made, and even more surreal to hear how it connected with them. Truly loved their input! QUOTES:

People say that New Yorkers aren’t friendly, but I think they’re more friendly than Londoners. Here there is a front-footed nature of Americans. You can go out on a night out and meet 10 random people and stay in touch with them, whereas that’s not going to happen in the same way in London.

What is interesting, as well, is how much power homicide detectives have and how much respect. They are kind of rock stars, especially in New York. There are not that many of them.

Even though I’m an actor, I don’t love sharing everything about myself. It’s always good to keep a little bit for yourself. [Interview, September 1, 2015]

QUOTES:

“I can relate to Susan. She thinks in terms of practicality. There are certain areas where we’re very similar and certain areas where we’re not. I feel very defensive of her. If anyone accuses Susan of being an outright cynic, I’ll say, ‘No, she’s not. There’s a perfectly logical explanation for it all. Don’t talk about her like that!'” (on her character, Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia)

“Skandar has these eyes that are really expressive and quite penetrating” (on her first impression of costar Skandar Keynes).

“It’s gone more quickly than I expected; the time has really flown past. It’s a bit like a long and lovely dream, and now I’m ready to wake up.” (on the experience of filming the Chronicles of Narnia)

It’s a laid-back set, and everyone’s very friendly. Andrew is so relaxed that it makes everyone else relaxed. – On the set of the Chronicles of Narnia

QUOTES:

I’m so fair that I didn’t go in the sun as a child. When all my friends were on the beach, I was going to ballet. The teachers there didn’t like you going in the sun, so I never did.

[When asked about her worst memory of being involved in the Lord of the Rings trilogy] “When we were doing reshoots, we spent a few days doing the scene where I’m fighting the Witch-King. It was hard coming back after a couple of years away and not being as fit as I had been then.”

Everyone says you should get a photo taken of yourself while you’re pregnant. I’ve got a film [War of the Worlds (2005)]. It’ll be nice for my daughter, too, to look at one day. She was in it.

QUOTES:

I’m a weirdo. I don’t leave the house unless I have to.

I was always loud and obnoxious and giggly and funny.

I’m having a great time. I get to travel and see the world. And yeah, I’ll have a family, because I don’t want to miss out on that amazing experience, but it’s not defining who I am.

I used Vamps (2012) as a casting couch! I pretty much did, because I was casting Life Happens (2011) while I was on the set of ‘Vamps,’ and anybody I had ever worked with, I asked to be in this movie.

I have a new little stray dog that I’ve had for about a month now. His name is Mikey Mohawk – he’s this little terrier with a natural Mohawk. My friend found him hit by a car on Pico Boulevard.

I don’t normally do shoots in bikinis – I’m just not that kind of girl. But for ‘Maxim’ I was like, ‘Bring it on!’ I wanted to wear the higher heels and the skimpier bathing suit. I figured I’d go for it!
