ATLS is a powerful exploration of love, freedom, and the inescapable shadows of a world that seeks to tear them apart.
What motivated you to make this film? I was inspired by Romeo and Juliet one day while listening to the soundtrack from the movie, I started to see this film come to life in my mind. I always loved the reading the play when I was younger… and so I began writing a tragic love story and soon I had a script.
What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video? I was very nervous how it would be received. But I was overjoyed to see that people understood our creative vision and enjoyed the film.

FLASHBULB MEMORIES, 4min., Portugal Directed by Carlos Trindade The title of the movie refers to a term introduced in scientific literature (1977) by the american psychologists Roger Brown and James Kulik, in a pioneering study about the relationship of memory with the emotions. The term appeared by analogy with photography, and with it the authors referred to the memories concerning the circumstances in which a person became aware for the first time of an very unexpected event, even shocking – both personal as well as fraternal -, with relevant consequences for her, arousing in any case strong emotions. After have been established, “flashbulb memories” would be practically permanent, because of the extremely vivid memories triggered by the occurrence that gave rise to them.
BUTTERFLY MANEUVERS, 7min., Germany Directed by Gor Margaryan Butterfly Manoeuvres’ is an experimental essay film based on old, private film footage of fighter planes. The film documents the preparations and training for war, recorded as historical evidence. An artful fusion of images and sounds creates a unique cinematic experience. It is interesting to note that the soundtrack does not always correspond exactly with the visual impressions. This deliberate discrepancy between image and sound was chosen to create new associations and perspectives. A central motif of the film is the contrast between the destructive fighter planes and the fragile, seemingly lost images of butterflies. This juxtaposition symbolises the transience and irreversible destruction caused by war. ‘Butterfly Manoeuvres’ is therefore not only a documentary record, but also a profound reflection on war, loss and the fleeting beauty of life.’

I was a bit scared because I came from the acting world. There was a fear that people would think of me kind of as a joke. But really, people think of me as a country artist who can act. That’s my favorite compliment.
I love sports. So if I was like a sports anchor or something like that. I would love to do that.
There’s no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be in the position that I am if I didn’t have my ‘One Tree Hill’ fans. They’re the most dedicated, devoted fans. They’re behind you no matter what. If one person says one bad thing about me on Twitter, they’re fighting back!
When I get on a plane, I kiss the plane and I tap it three times. If I don’t do it… I have to do it. One time I sat in my seat and I had to get back up to touch the plane.
I think music changes and it evolves.
People were always asking me who I wanted to tour with, and I always said Jason Aldean or Brad Paisley. I’m from Michigan and a down-home girl.
My mom wanted to be a country singer, too, so country was always being played. And my girlfriends and I used to go to concerts, like Brad Paisley, in middle school and high school.
I would love to do a duet with Tim McGraw. I think that would be fun.
I remember I read this harsh review about my show, and one of my friends told me that this was the exact same stuff people said about Madonna. And it’s like, she didn’t care. Madonna just came out and was herself. I respect that a lot.
Just because I look sexy on the cover of Rolling Stone, doesn’t mean I’m naughty.
[on fellow pop-princess and former Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera] Christina and I are friends no matter what the media makes up.
England is one of my favorite places. The fans are just so crazy.
I would really, really, really like to be a legend like Madonna. Madonna knows what to do next, and when she’s performing, the audience is just in awe of her.
[Her mother Lynne Spears on Britney’s upbringing] I was not a permissive mother at all.
[on her relationship with Justin Timberlake during the The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989)] We were, like, 12 or 13 and it was like, “Hi, do you like me?”. It was like puppy love.
[on the tour to promote her third album [released in November 2001] I really want this to be like shocking and in people’s faces and edgy. It’s just basically, you know, there’s a lot of scrutiny with everything I do. And, it’s basically saying that I’m not a little girl anymore and this is me. And just, you know, I have to do what I have to do for me, and that’s basically the overall scheme of it, yeah.
[on recording a song with boyfriend Justin Timberlake for her third album] I have to say I was a little nervous at first. I’m used to producers going in there and it’s like work. And, I go in and I work and I do my vocals and work. And, I thought that it was awkward at first because I was nervous recording with him doing my vocals, but then I just totally forgot that he was my boyfriend, and I just said “Britney, just do the vocals, don’t be nervous, don’t be retarded like this.” But it ended up being fine, actually. At the very end, I got the best vocals I’ve ever done.
I’m a character actress. It doesn’t mean I can’t do leading roles; I don’t think of myself as a leading lady. There are many actors who, whatever they do, they pretty much play themselves.
I knew my boyfriend was going to ask me to marry him. And I was sure the ring was going to be exceptional, and I bought him a Rolex Explorer. And I engraved ‘yes’ on it. And when he proposed, I gave him the watch.
I’ve been very lucky as an actor. I have worked all the time. Some shows I do, they get cancelled. Some, they’re critically acclaimed, and then they get cancelled. And some, I’m in the last season of this or that. But I can’t complain about my career.
I’m one of those few actresses who works all the time, and even though I haven’t done a show that literally puts me on some kind of map – as in, that’s how I’m known and that’s how I’ll always be known – I’m very lucky. For a clean makeup finish, I use Cle de Peau translucent pressed powder.

[on Ally McBeal (1997)] It’s so much fun playing her [Ling], but I have this fear that people are going to run away from me in terror on the streets. They think I’m going to bite their heads off or something.
I’m so proud of my heritage, but yes, I think there’s always a danger when people put you on a pedestal. Especially when you’re just trying to live your life and pursue your dreams. The intention is not to represent Asian Americans, but to be an Asian American who is working as an actress. People often confuse the two. When you are “representing,” you have the burden of some people projecting their hopes onto you. This can eventually lead to a certain amount of disappointment. I strive to not deny myself experiences that open up to me. I hope to live without looking back in regret. If people want to join me on the ride, then I’m happy to have them along.
Martial arts are art forms and require a great deal of discipline and dedication. I so admire people who focus their lives on it, because it’s not an easy thing to do.
Producing is like pushing jello up a hill on a hot day.
It’s really taking a while but I do think it’s becoming more acceptable to cast Asians in roles that weren’t originally slated for someone who is Asian, which is so great.
I try to believe like I believed when I was five…when my heart told me everything I needed to know.
