Rebecca Miller
Born: September 15, 1962 in Roxbury, Connecticut, USA
Married to: Daniel Day-Lewis (13 November 1996 – present) (2 children)
Read interview from Matthew Toffolo early this year:
From Interview:
I am always open to being surprised and I’m hoping that I can surprise people. My motivation to make movies is so I can keep learning and keep the learning curve steep. I don’t know what’s next but I want to keep surprising myself and I want to keep learning.
Caterina Murino
Born: September 15, 1977 in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy
I do have ambition – I can dress up for a premiere, get in a limousine, but it’s not my life. My life is wearing jeans and tennis shoes and travelling on the metro. I have to do that because otherwise my acting is going to be false.
I have a dream of re-creating the fantastic family I grew up in with my brother and my parents. I am lucky that I have such a good image of family life – my father and mother are still in love, still happy.
Modelling was not very satisfying for me. I came to London to model, and I fell in love with the theatre. I was eating yoghurt every day so that I had the money to go to the theatre. I saw everything. It’s still my dream to be on stage in London.

I grew up in Baltimore. And yes, I am a big sports fan, especially when it comes to my local teams.
My dad said to me growing up: ‘When all is said and done, if you can count all your true friends on one hand, you’re a lucky man.’

Oliver Stone
Born: September 15, 1946 in New York City, New York, USA
I consider my films first and foremost to be dramas about individuals in personal struggles and I consider myself to be a dramatist before I am a political filmmaker. I’m interested in alternative points of view. I think ultimately the problems of the planet are universal and that nationalism is a very destructive force. I also like anarchy in films. My heroes were Luis Buñuel and Jean-Luc Godard. Breathless (1960) was one of the first pictures I really remember being marked by, because of the speed and energy. They say I’m unsubtle. But we need above all, a theatre that wakes us up: nerves and heart.

Chelsea Kane
Born: September 15, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA
[on changing her last name from Staub to Kane] No. I did not get married. Yes, Kane is my middle name. And, I lost my verification when I changed my name, but working to get it back. Why? People struggled with pronouncing and spelling ‘Staub.’ Got tired of ‘Stab’ and ‘Stub,’ so “Chelsea Kane” makes life simpler. I know it’s a little strange to get used to, but thanks for making the best of it until we all get comfortable with it!
Tommy Lee Jones

[on how he learned to direct] I’ve worked with more than 50 directors and I’ve paid attention since day one. That’s pretty much been my education, apart from studying art history and shooting with my own cameras. I’ve seen 50 different sets of mistakes and 50 different ways of achieving. You just leave the bad part out.

Tom Hardy
Born: September 15, 1977 in Hammersmith, London, England, UK
[acting tip on a movie or play] Whatever character you play, remember they are always doing something. They are not just talking. They are alive; going through a drama in which they will go through some sort of dramatic human experience. Keywords: Alive and Experience. It is your job to make them become so. Anything you do on stage or film has a direct relation to something you have experienced in one form or another in real life. Use your imagination to exaggerate or lessen that sensation. Then, disguise it in characterization and don’t forget to make lots and lots of mistakes, and look like a complete asshole. You’ll do fine.

[on his role as a helicopter gunner in Afghanistan] Our job out here is to make sure the guys are safe on the ground, And, if that means shooting someone who is shooting at them, then we will do it.
I’ve served my country.
Conversations with my mother, father, my grandparents, as I’ve grown up have obviously driven me towards wanting to try and make a difference as much as possible.

[In a 1987 magazine interview] I have a theory that peer pressure doesn’t end with high school. It may be more glaring there because the groups are so distinct socially; but it doesn’t let up as you get older. There’s pressure in any business to choose a safe project, to go with the group. In corporations, there’s pressure to be seen with the right people; to eat in the right restaurants; at all costs to avoid the smell of failure. A case in point was the pressure on me to choose a ‘safer’ title than “Pretty in Pink.” You constantly have to fight to keep everything from being reduced to the lowest common denominator. Standing on your own is not a thing that ends in high school.
