Job Hiring Your Production Crew – When hiring your CREW, first and foremost what you’re looking for is other leaders. People who will take their position and own it – make themselves the LEADER of that job. This is a collaborative medium. Everyone can pour themselves into the film, no matter which position they have, and just plain make the film better.

If everyone on your set works that much harder, and believes in the project with their inner soul, then you have the makings of a great film. In previous films I’ve learned what not when hiring a crew.

As the Producer and/or Director, you are the LEADER of the film. You have to make tough decisions. Hiring Your Crew is the first, and sometimes the toughest, decision you have to make.

We performed 10 screenplays, 2 stage plays, 3 novels, 1 short story, 6 poetry readings, 24 Twitter short story movies, and turned 3 poems into movies! In total, we showcased 54 videos of new works to the world in just 30 days, not including the 59 new poetry writings, and the 108 new loglines entries we showcased on our network.

DOCUMENTARY FILM – TIPS for Documentary Film Production

THE FOUR BASIC DIVISIONS OF STYLE

1) EXPOSITORY DOC’S
Commenting on the Acting of the scene rather than being a part of it
-A lot of times Propaganda films (TV NEWS)
-Express point of view clearly and leave little room for misinterpretation

2) OBSERVATIONAL DOC’S
MIRROR TO THE WORLD – Way it’s going on, is going on
-Keeping the camera rolling
-Story comes out of the life of the people, not from the actions of individuals
-Conveys the rhythms and texture of everyday life

3) REFLECTIVE DOC’S
A relationship between the filmmakers and its subjects
-Filmmaker is a part of the film. -Seen through the eyes of the filmmaker. They are usually the main character in their own film

4) IMPRESSIONISTIC DOC’S
NO RULES-Poetic instead of argumentative-Generally categorized under Experimental film

Yantong: My Milk Cup Cow is made as an graduation film of my MA in Tokyo University of the Arts.
