QUOTES:

Popularity has a bright side, it unlocks many doors. But the truth is that I don’t like it very much because it changes the private life into a very small thing.

My cinema — the ’50s, ’60s — is different from the cinema today so I thought that it would not be bad to show that kind of cinema where we could dream.

There is only one trouble with having played the most famous courtesan of all times and that is, after Sheba, all other roles will certainly seem tame and anticlimactic.

I’ve had many lovers and still have romances. I am very spoiled. All my life, I’ve had too many admirers.

I do what I like now. I just don’t have time for it all.

A woman at 20 is like ice, at 30 she is warm and at 40 she is hot.
I have experience seducing nephews.

Married to: Chris Diamantopoulos (12 May 2005 – present) (1 child)

QUOTES:

When I think of the most beautiful women, they’re not supermodels.

I’m blessed that I can leave it to the pros at work and red-carpet events, because I can’t say I’m adept. Still, I’m definitely not afraid to take chances when it comes to beauty.

Glamour is fun! Spending time to get ready isn’t about being fussy; it’s about taking care of myself.

I’ve learned there’s nothing wrong with being a little fussy. I used to pride myself on being low-maintenance – I wore it like a badge of honor.

QUOTES:

[In 1968] I was asked to sign a protest against “censorship” after a newspaper declined to publish somebody’s manifesto. “But that isn’t censorship,” I said. “That’s editing. In Russia you go to prison for possessing a copy of Animal Farm. That’s censorship.”

[In 1968] A few miles away across the Channel, clashes between protesters and riot police were affairs of burning cars, overturned buses and buildings turned to rubble. Our own street-fighting man was only rock ‘n’ roll.

[In 1968] It wasn’t all posh, of course. The “scene”, as we called it, was more populously located in a shifting underground of art events – exhibitions, gigs, happenings, poetry readings – in dark places around Covent Garden and elsewhere and here the word “revolution” takes on some substance, I think. It was not a social revolution, but there was a sense of a cultural revolution pivoted on that moment. Unfortunately, I was embarrassed by that, too. I loved the music and the dressing up but I couldn’t take to the dialogue: a reductive argot of comrade-jargon and bogus wisdom derived from misunderstood eastern religions.

If I had known in 1968 what we were going to squander, long before we had the excuse of 9/11, I might have joined in the fun with less embarrassment, with less to lose. But at the time all the goings-on seemed frivolous compared with the freedoms we had invented – or should I say the freedoms you invented?

QUOTES:

A woman, a dog and a walnut tree, the more you beat them, the better they be.

Acting is like roller-skating. Once you know how to do it, it is neither stimulating nor exciting.

I am not one of those people who would rather act than eat. Quite the reverse. My own desire as a boy was to retire. That ambition has never changed.

I don’t ask questions. I just take their money and use it for things that really interest me.

I was beastly but never coarse. A high-class sort of heel.

I never really thought I’d make the grade. And let’s face it, I haven’t.

Married to:
Daniel Erickson (18 May 2002 – 8 September 2008) (divorced)
Christopher Grove (1990 – 1992) (divorced)

Best known as the voice of “Lisa Simpson” on the TV show The Simpsons (1989)

QUOTES:

Actually, you wouldn’t believe how many people come up to me and say ‘This is my fantasy: to be in bed with Lisa Simpson and have her say “Oh more, more!”‘ What is the matter with you people? This is sick! — on the Australian talk show “Denton”.

It’s usually character stuff that I’m offered unless they want a real offbeat leading role. Most of the time, I’m everybody’s best friend. Or their annoying friend. It’s like the story of my life. I will never get to play the Cinderella roles.

In my dreams, I was Rita Hayworth, Kim Basinger. I just wanted to be that long, tall drink of water with flowing blond hair and large blue eyes and cheekbones you could actually see – you know, be that. And I wasn’t, so I hated myself. I’d beat myself up, tear myself to shreds. Now I’ve made peace with it. I don’t mind it at all; I’d rather be who I am. It’s comfortable. It’s me. I got weary of putting so much energy into hating myself”.

Being a part of “As Good as It Gets” was a great job for me. It was fun taking a bit of a break from playing Lisa Simpson and doing real actual live-action camera work. I enjoyed having the honor of working with Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Greg Kinnear. And especially that cute little dog. Overall, I enjoyed working on the film, and I wish I at least got an Oscar nomination.
