It’s ridiculous. My life’s been a series of happy accidents.

It’s your life, and I don’t think you get another one, so whatever you do with it, make sure it’s as filled with happiness and as fulfilling as it can possibly be.

He gained 25 pounds eating nothing but McDonald’s for a month for “Super Size Me.”

Took him a total of 14 months to lose 24½ pounds he gained from eating McDonalds.

[Commenting on “Super Size Me”] “As one family member told me, it’s simply a really good bad idea. I guess our timing was perfect. And that’s really exciting.”

[Responding to an observation about his light-hearted approach to the search for Osama bin Lauden] Nobody likes to be poked with a stick. But everybody likes to be tickled with a feather.

Died Today (November 7, 2016): Janet Reno

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

janetreno.jpgHours away from being the first female President of the United States, Hillary Clinton’s great nemesis has passed away. Very interesting timing.

Janet Reno, who rose from a rustic life on the edge of the Everglades to become attorney general of the United States — the first woman to hold the job — and whose eight years in that office placed her in the middle of some of the most divisive episodes of the Clinton presidency, died on Monday at her home in Miami-Dade County, Fla. She was 78.

The cause was Parkinson’s disease,

A woman who has perhaps the strangest of legacies. I guess history will determine how she is remembered.

Imposing at 6-foot-1, awkward in manner and blunt in her probity, she became a regular foil for late-night comics and a running gag on “Saturday Night Live.” But she got the joke, proving it by gamely appearing on…

Watch Highlight Videos from the Oct. 2016 HORROR Film Festival

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

Highlights from the Thursday October 27, 2016 event.

The HORROR/THRILLER OCTOBER 2016 HORROR/THRILLER Festival was a major success. The sold out crowd loved every single film.

The theme of the festival was “Illusions (or What Can’t Be Seen)”.

All of these films had a situation, antagonist, or plot device that was off camera. The mystery of what’s not seen to enhance the thrills and scare the audience more!

This was our 3rd Horror/Thriller Festival of 2016 and perhaps the best of the year. What made this festival so unique was that it was an international flair. Films from Norway, UK, France, USA and Germay. A showcase of horror from countries from all over the film.

One of our longest films of the year, O (29min. Norway), has the potential to be named the best overall film that played at the festival this year. It was the runaway winner of “Best…

Get to know Sound Designer Wylie Stateman (All Quentin Tarantino films)

WILDsound Festival's avatarWILDsound Festival

READ FULL INTERVIEW: Supervising Sound Editor Wylie Stateman (The Hateful Eight, Home Alone, JFK) –

Wylie Statement is a gem. It’s a simple as that. This is truly one of my favorite interviews. In my subjective opinion, it’s a must read for anyone working in the industry today, and for those attempting to get into the industry. His answers were entertaining, educational, and there is a theme that ties it all together. See if you can figure it out. Hope you enjoy.

On working with Quentin Tarantino:

Quentin taught me the value in studying historical film references. He often provided specific examples of films that he felt advanced filmmaking or some aspect of sound specifically. For “Kill Bill”, we reviewed Quentin’s fascination with early Hong Kong films. On “Grindhouse”, he once referenced a trailer that he had seen some thirty years prior as having left a lasting impression on him (sound-wise)…

Happy Birthday: Thandie Newton

Born: November 6, 1972 in London, England, UK

Married to: Ol Parker (11 July 1998 – present) (3 children)

Having children is life-changing, to state the obvious. It’s a gigantic shift in your life and I welcomed it. Not to put too fine a point on it, there’s something about the shame that goes with sexual exploitation, deviance, whatever. As a woman, having a baby psychologically erases it all from your body. And that, for me, was incredibly important.
