You can always learn something [in bad acting classes], maybe it’s a technique you don’t like; maybe it’s a style. But you learn different things.

[on preparing to meet the audience] I’m behind the curtain waiting to go on. And there’s a spotlight shining through the curtain from the other side. They’re announcing my name. And I think, This is going to be awful. And then the curtain opens and you walk toward the light, which is so like death is supposed to be it’s weird. And then it’s fun, and then you play.
Rick Nelson: Guntersville, 60min., USA Directed by Kenny Scott Guffey This poignant documentary goes beyond the myth to explore iconic musician Rick Nelson’s final performance, from the people who were there when he rocked the stage that one last time.
Director Statement A longtime Rick Nelson fan, in the summer of 2024 I visited the small town of Guntersville, Alabama. It occurred to me that not only are the locations and individuals still surviving, but details surrounding Rick’s final performance were scarce and treated as a footnote or afterthought, rather than the incredibly impactful moment in Rick’s history that it had been. I conceived the idea on the dock at Guntersville Lake, and now, we bring you the story. We hope it leaves a lasting impression.

In the first 10 pages the writer needs to let the reader know in general terms what the story is about, and what is at stake. Plus, set the tone of what world and genre the writer has created, while also introducing the main characters. All the while you need to engage and entertain the reader.
The contest was created because this is an industry where agents/producers and their team are so busy and are reading so many scripts that if you do not grab them right away then they will put down the script and move onto another one. So you have to capture their attention when you’re writing on spec.
My experience at the festival was wonderful, and I had the honor of winning the ‘Best Story’ award with my film ‘Submerged.’ The festival gave a lot of positive visibility to my film and the audience feedback is really helpful.

(2008) I grew up in Oklahoma, I did always have the blue eyes, but I was pudgy until I was 13 or 14, then I got tall and skinny, but I grew up in an area where girls liked athletic football players and I was never that kind of guy. That was their version of Prince Charming and it was not until fairly recently that I became reasonably happy with my appearance and the way I am. I think it is all psychological, but I was never really comfortable with the way I looked and don’t see myself as handsome…When I was younger I would try to mold myself into an image of what women wanted and now I am interested in being comfortable in my own skin. I think it is important to have confidence in who you are and embrace that, rather than trying to be someone else.
