[on the concept of Another Earth (2011)] I think we were wrestling with the idea of the loneliness of life. You may have great close friends, a great lover or a great family, but there are certain things that you have got to deal with yourself. There’s this inner monologue inside your head.. What if it were externalized?

[on David Janssen, with whom she worked on 3 episodes of The Fugitive (1963)]: I loved him. He was so sweet. I felt sorry for him toward the end. Now they have several people as leads in a show, they have these huge casts, but David was that show. He had those long, long, long hours, and a role where he was always doing physical things.

Happy Birthday: Edie Falco

ediefalco.jpgHappy Birthday actor Edie Falco

Born: July 5, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA

Unlike her brashly assertive alter-ego Carmela Soprano, Falco is self-described as shy, but is clearly a witty and down-to-earth person. She sometimes travels with her beloved dog Marley, driving so that the dog does not have to travel in the baggage compartment. At one point Falco had a relationship with her “Frankie and Johnny” co-star Stanley Tucci. She was treated for breast cancer in 2004 and her prognosis is very good. In December 2004, Falco adopted a baby boy, whom she named Anderson, after her mother’s surname. Another adoption, of a baby girl named Macy, followed in 2008.

QUOTES:

There’s more to us than the moment we made a bad decision.

For a lot of people, film is still the dream – the captive audience in the darkened theater – but I love TV. I think it’s fantastic.

I love flawed characters, male or female, and I only want to talk about flawed characters, really, in what I do.
