Mae West (1893–1980)

Born: August 17, 1893 in Woodhaven, Queens, New York City, New York, USA
Died: November 22, 1980 (age 87) in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA

It’s better to be looked over than overlooked.

A hard man is good to find.

Men are my life, diamonds are my career!

When women go wrong, men go right after them!

When caught between two evils I generally pick the one I’ve never tried before.

When I’m good, I’m very good. But when I’m bad, I’m better.

Marriage is a great institution. I’m not ready for an institution.

It’s not the man in your life that counts. It’s the life in your man.

Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

Jena Malone

Born: November 21, 1984 in Sparks, Nevada, USA

I have this camera so I just taped myself doing this little piece of voice-over and I sent [director Sean Penn] a DVD. Four days later, he called me back and said he usually never hires anyone without meeting them, but could I do it? Literally, I would wash the floor for him. I just respect every part of what he’s done with his career. (On landing her role in Into the Wild (2007)).

Goldie Hawn

Born: November 21, 1945 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA

Has lived with Kurt Russell since 1983.

[why she and Kurt Russell aren’t married] We’ve both been married. I’ve been married twice, it didn’t work. He was married once, that didn’t work either. And, you know, we were at a time when we had kids and thought, ‘Well, you know, what actually would it do to get married?’. I like being independent. I like being his girlfriend. I like that notion. I think it’s sexy, and I do think that it’s a way of saying, ‘You know what, I don’t own you, and there’s no paper that says that. My union with you is in my heart and it’s in my promises’, you know, and that’s the best you can do.

Harold Ramis (1944–2014)

Born: November 21, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, USA
Died: February 24, 2014 (age 69) in Chicago, Illinois, USA

Married to: Erica Mann (7 May 1989 – 24 February 2014) (his death) (2 children)
Anne Ramis (2 July 1967 – 27 March 1984) (divorced) (1 child)

Said in an interview that his working relationship with actor Bill Murray ended while filming Groundhog Day (1993) due to differing views on what the film should be about (Murray wanted it to be more philosophical, Ramis wanted it to be a comedy). Ramis also cites that Murray’s real life personal problems at the time (specifically the ending of his first marriage) was having a ripple effect on his behavior at work as another factor in the unfortunate ending of their working relationship.

I’m at my best when I’m working with really talented people, and I’m there to gently suggest or guide…

Alexander Siddig

Born: November 21, 1965 in Sudan

[on Clash of the Titans (2010)] That was possibly the lamest movie I’ve ever been in. I mean, you know, there’s some times when you do duds, and I must’ve been rubbish, because I think there was all of one minute more of performance that I may have done that didn’t end up in the movie. So 50% of my performance was cut and…yeah, there’s not much you can say about that.

Björk

Born: November 21, 1965 in Reykjavik, Iceland

Has gone on record saying she will never make another movie, due to the difficulties she faced making Dancer in the Dark (2000).

After winning best actress award at Cannes: “I knew when I said yes that this would be not only my first role but also my last one. I’m very happy that it’s to be this one.” Asked whether she might one day reconsider, she said: “I have to do records now. I only have 50 years left, and I’ve got a lot of records to make.”

“After doing the research with all the vocals on Medúlla, I was very curious to take that further to a place that was not narrative. Then, when Matthew explained that the film happens on the ocean, I was curious to make vocal patterns that were sort of oceanic. My music is very much…

Nicollette Sheridan

Born: November 21, 1963 in Worthing, Sussex, England, UK

I’m actually more comfortable playing the stroke victim or the girl with no makeup on, looking scruffy and it’s all about what’s going on inside rather than on the outside. But I’m making friends with it. At times, it’s embarrassing being in some outfits that I might personally never be caught dead in, but they serve “Edie” on [Desperate Housewives (2004)]. It was nice actually wearing pants and a proper shirt as “Diane” in [Code Name: The Cleaner (2007)].

I think I’ve always been a fighter in a healthy way.

I think there are a lot of factors that the universe can conspire and make happen if it’s meant to be. Also with perseverance, if you really follow your passion and your bliss you can make anything happen … in any field. I think fear stops us. It’s always…
