I was always looking to be entertained. We lead such full lives and a lot of us don’t lead very pleasant lives and don’t like what we do… My dad worked his whole life as a salesman and that wasn’t what he really wanted to do. He looked forward to two weeks vacation every year and he used to say to me, ‘Whatever you do, make sure you do something you really like so you don’t just have your vacation to look forward to.’ And I love movies.

[on his quirks]: I have this weird thing where I feel exhilarated when I cast things off in my life. Let things go. Even things that are important to me. Sometimes I know I’m making the wrong decision, but I do it anyway. Like, I just lost this watch that really meant a lot to me. I bought it after Bottle Rocket (1996). The first nice thing I ever bought for myself and I lost it. Yet I have this feeling of being glad it’s gone. I don’t know why.

It’s weird to think I have fans now, so I appreciate all of the people that follow and support me – and I love them to death. But yeah, when I start looking on Twitter, and I see, ‘I want to name my kid after you,’ I’m like, ‘Whoa!’ I’m a little surprised.
