SAVE THE DATES – DC APA FILM FESTIVAL 2015 – APRIL 16-19, 2015
Matthew Toffolo interviews Executive Director Christian Oh:
Matthew: What is the goal of your film festival?
Christian: Our mission is to Raise APA Media to New Heights.
Matthew: How has the festival changed since its inception until your upcoming 2015 festival?
Christian: This is our 15th year and we are excited to make such a milestone.
Matthew: How many films are you showcasing at your Film Festival?
Christian: We will be showcasing at least 50+ films at our 4 day festival. Everything from feature length narratives, documentaries, shorts, and more.
Matthew: Can you give us a sneak peak of what to except for the 2015 Festival?
Christian: We are excited to showcase films that have had success at other festivals – we have films submissions from over 30 countries across thew world.
Matthew: Is there going to be an overall theme for the 2015 festival?
Christian: Celebrating 15 years.
Matthew: Where do you see your festival in 5 years?
Christian: By our 20th year we hope to have young filmmakers who have made an impact on the film industry and perhaps will be able to give back to the Asian American community.
Matthew: What’s the current status of the Film Scene in your city?
Christian: DC is a growing film community. Lots of independent filmmakers, but more importantly amazing pre and post production talent. We live in what I coined many years back – DOCUWOOD. We have National Geographic, Discovery Channel, AFI, National Endowment for the Arts, PBS and more that needs to be utilized and explored. So much talent.
Matthew: What film have you seen the most in your life?
Christian: The most films that I have seen in my life are shorts – as a short filmmaker, I feel that shorts are windows to larger stories and issues. Think of them as a Trailermercial – a commercial/trailer for a bigger film or series.
